To add the "Add as a friend" button, follow these steps:

1) Click that arrow right next to the "Home" button on the top of the page
2) Go to "Privacy Settings"
3) Go to the "How You Connect" place and click on "Edit Settings"

4) The second option listed once you press that is "Who can send you friend requests?"
5) Click on that tab next to it and choose "Everyone"
